At a Taylor Swift show in Ottawa, Ontario, last week, teenager Nicole Lavoie suffered a medical emergency and had to be taken out of the concert. But before the ambulance arrived, Swift’s mom, Andrea, came into a medical room at the venue to see if she was all right. When Nicole got to the emergency room, her cell phone was ringing, and it was Taylor Swift herself calling. In a letter to the Ottawa Citizen, Nicole’s mother, Harriet, said, “This special singer took the time to check on my daughter’s condition and talk to Nicole for several minutes about her country music to one of her biggest fans.” Add this to the list of reasons why Swift has become such a good role model.

Taylor Swift sparkles on the red carpet in a custom Alice + Olivia dress at the BMI Pop Awards held at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel on Tuesday (May 18) in Beverly Hills, Calif.
The 20-year-old country cutie, who finished her look with Jimmy Choo shoes, Neil Lane jewels and a Christian Louboutin clutch, took home the award for Song of the Year for “Love Story”!
Earlier in the week, Tay took home the award for Artist of the Year from the National Association of Recording Merchandisers. Taylor wore a Kelly green Alice + Olivia one shoulder tie dress paired with a Lauren Joy bracelet by Dana Rebecca Designs to the Chicago event!

Taylor Swift looks like she’s ready for summer in a simple white boho dress as she stops by the Rugby Ralph Lauren store in NYC on Saturday afternoon (May 15).
She even wore a pair of Ralph Lauren sunglasses out of the store!
It was just announced that the 20-year-old songstress will be awarded the Hal David Starlight Award on Thursday, June 17!
The award honors songwriters at a high point in their careers who are impacting the industry with songs they’ve written themselves. Phil Collins (Lily’s dad) and music producer Phil Ramone also will receive special awards at the event.
Congrats, Taylor!

You know that old Groucho Marx saying about how you wouldn’t want to belong to any club that would have you as a member? I wonder if that’s how Julianne Hough and Taylor Swift feel right now, now that they are in this Maxim “Hot 100″ club. It is the self-proclaimed definitive list of the world’s most beautiful women. The two country singers are beautiful, there’s no disputing that. And they are probably a little bit honored. But it must feel kind of strange to know that men are sitting around a conference room table deciding if you are hot enough to be “signed into sexy law” because of the magazine’s “mad eye for hot chicks.” Strange, because for all the awards they could get, one that has nothing to do with their singing and songwriting talent feels completely superficial.
