Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood Talk ‘Inspiring’ Nashville Rising Benefit Concert

‘I’m just really happy to be a part of it,’ Swift said of performing at Nashville benefit show.

On Tuesday night, Taylor Swift joined forces with Miley Cyrus, Carrie Underwood, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill and even Sandra Bullock for the charity show Nashville Rising: A Benefit Concert for Flood Recovery, at the Bridgestone Arena. The artists teamed up in an effort to raise money to help the Nashville area, which was devastated by floods earlier this spring.

Taylor Swift explained that as soon as she heard there was a way she could help Nashville, she jumped at it.
“Thankfully, the people that are close to me that lost their houses have found different places to live, and I’ve really seen them help each other,” she said. “It’s been really inspiring. As soon as I even heard that they’re putting something together, I just volunteered and I said I want to do this and I want to help out. It’s really wonderful that Tim and Faith stepped to action so quickly. I’m just really happy to be a part of it.” Here is a mini video of what Taylor Swift has to say about it!

Taylor Swift Talks Nashville Flood Benefit With Miley Cyrus

‘Nashville is really being rebuilt, and everybody’s been so wonderful,’ Swift tells MTV News.

On Tuesday night (June 22), Taylor Swift will be one of the many Nashville superstars on hand for Nashville Rising: A Benefit Concert for Flood Recovery. The singer, who lives in the area, will join the night’s hosts, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, as they raise money to help the area devastated by floods earlier this spring.

Swift said she and her band weren’t immune to the destruction. “The flood definitely affected all of Nashville. You know, for me, the fact that there were members of my band that lost their homes really affected me, because those are my friends,” she told MTV News. “Those are the people I call up as soon as we get home. The fact that it affected my band, that’s the most directly it affected me.”

While some of her bandmates have struggled to get their feet back on the ground, Swift said, “Thankfully, my home wasn’t damaged, but seeing people that I’ve known for years trying to figure out where they’re going to stay, it was really painful to watch. Nashville is really being rebuilt, and everybody’s been so wonderful.”

Swift, who donated $500,000 to help the area back in May, will be joined by fellow teen queen Miley Cyrus, who had her big Can’t Be Tamed coming-out party Monday night, as well as country stars like Carrie Underwood, Brooks & Dunn, LeAnn Rimes, Miranda Lambert and Martina McBride. The show is set to take place at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena. Funds will go to the Community Foundation, which provides philanthropic services in Middle Tennessee. Source: x

There’s More to Taylor Swift’s Story in Marie Claire

They tour the bus. They talk low-fat strawberry Pop-Tarts and shopping for home decor at T.J. Maxx. And they get to the bottom of Taylor Swift’s habit for affection. (“She’s just a born hugger,” record label boss Scott Borchetta says.) But between all that chit-chat about the things that make Taylor Swift seem less like a superstar and more of a normal 20-year-old, Marie Claire magazine also gets down to the real scoop on some of the passion that dwells inside Swift and has been there since she was about 3.

“My parents have videos of me on the beach at, like, 3, going up to people and singing Lion King songs for them. I was literally going from towel to towel, saying, ‘Hi, I’m Taylor. I’m going to sing ‘I Just Can’t Wait to Be King’ for you now,’” she said.

Then there’s the rise-to-fame details all her fans know by heart: singing at karaoke nights, garden club parties and Boy Scout meetings, going to Nashville at age 11, getting a songwriting deal at 14, then getting her record deal when Borchetta discovered her. But Swift herself is hardly looking back. She tells the magazine, “I think about my next move 10 steps ahead. I’m always planning three awards shows ahead. For me, planning is a productive way of stressing out about your life.” And right now, her next move is getting her next album released in the fall. “Right now, the No. 1 priority in my life is figuring out how to process what I’m feeling and translate it into musical form,” she says.
